Gothenburgsoperan

The building is located near the city center, in Lilla Bommen, on the banks of the Göta älv river. It was designed by Jan Izikovitz and has an area of 28,700 square meters with a height of 32 meters. The opera has two concert halls. Its main auditorium measures 500 square meters and has 1,300 seats. It is illuminated by 1000 spotlights. The building was inaugurated in 1994 with Harry Martinson’s piece Aniara. In addition to operas, ballets, musicals and shows are performed. There is also a theater restaurant.
