Corniche

The Corniche in Luxembourg, also called the most beautiful balcony in Europe, runs along the Alzette valley on the ramparts built by the Spanish and French in the 17th century. The path runs from the Bock rock to the lower part of the Holy Spirit Citadel. Until 1870, the corniche was provided with stairs at steeply descending points. Only after the fortress was demolished were they leveled. A large part of the protective walls with embrasures had to give way and thus gave a view of the valley of the Alzette, the district of Grund and the Rham plateau.
