Chinatown

Chinatown in Vancouver is the largest Chinatown in Canada and one of the largest Chinatowns in North America. It is near Pender Street. It borders historic Gastown and Downtown to the west, Downtown Eastside to the north and the remains of former Japantown, and Strathcona to the east. Hastings, Georgia, Gore and Taylor Street define the approximate boundaries of Chinatown’s shopping district, but its boundaries extend to the southern parts of Downtown Eastside. Pender, Gore and Main Street are the main shopping centers in Chinatown. The entrance gate to Chinatown has three ornate arches with a tiled roof in traditional Chinese style.
