Graz clock tower

The Graz clock tower is a 28 meter high clock tower. It stands on the Schloßberg and is the symbol of Graz. The core of the Graz clock tower probably dates from the 13th century. The tower was first mentioned as part of the fortifications around 1265. In 1560 it was brought into its current form. There is a large dial with a diameter of more than five meters on each of the four sides of the tower. They were frescoed in 1712. Above the dials, a wooden rampart leads around the tower, from which the fire guards could see the entire city center.
